Our Training Staff
Chris is a retired U.S. Army Military Policeman with more than 20 years of Law Enforcement experience. He worked as a U.S. Army Military Police School (USAMPS) Certified Instructor and subject matter expert in Protective Services Operations and High-Threat Security Driving. Chris has conducted Protective Services missions throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa encompassing more than 50 countries to include Iraq and Afghanistan. He has extensive firearms training in handgun, shotgun, submachine gun, and carbine and has completed instructor and armorer certification courses through Hecklor &Koch, SIG SAUER and the National Rifle Association. Chris began instructing at BSR in 2008 and is currently the Director of Training.
Larry is a retired U.S. Army Military Policeman and Infantryman who has more than 20 years experience as a military and civilian instructor specializing in High-Threat Security Driving, Firearms, Tactics and Special Skills. Since 2007, Larry has provided driving and firearms training for a variety of clients including the U.S. Department of State, Department of Defense and Law Enforcement agencies. Larry holds numerous instructor certifications through the U.S. Army, U.S. Department of State and The National Rifle Association. Larry began instructing at BSR in 2013 and is currently the Chief Firearms Instructor.
Guy is a retired Air Traffic Controller after 31 years of service. He has been involved in amateur racing with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and the Formula Race Car Club of America (FRCCA) since 1999. He currently manages the Friday at the Track (FATT) program for BSR. Guy began instructing at BSR in 2008.
David Van Diest
David has Auto Crossed regularly since 1990 as well as participated in several open road rally races to include; the Silver State Classic, the Nevada Open Road Challenge and the Gold Rush Challenge. He has instructed at events for Ford SVT Owners Group, Volkswagen, Track Daze, Ferrari/Maserati of D.C., Corvette Clubs, and Friday at the Track. David has also competed in events at Pikes Peak International Raceway and Second Creek Raceway. David has been a BSR instructor since July of 2006.
Nathan is a four year veteran of the United States Marine Corps. While in the USMC, Nathan served primarily in the Security Forces, stationed at Yorktown Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, VA, becoming a member of the Recapture Tactics Team, specializing in the security and recapture of special weapons. Nathan has over thirteen years of law enforcement experience between the West Virginia State Police and local city Police Departments. Nathan has over four years as a Private Security Specialist, working with both private and governmental agencies. Nathan has instructed for the Dept. of State Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program as an SME in the areas of Crisis Incident Response (CQB/SWAT Tactics), Firearms, and Personal Protection. Nathan has been a BSR Instructor since 2013.
Ron is a retired U.S. Army Military Policeman and Armor Crewman who has more than10 years of experience as a military and civilian instructor specializing in High-Threat Security Driving, Firearms, Tactics and Special Skills. Ron has conducted, Protective Services, CQB, Cordon and Search, Force Protection, Coin and Training of Multinational Forces Missions. Since 2010, Ron has provided driving and firearms training for a variety of clients including the U.S. Department of State, Department of Defense and Law Enforcement agencies. Ron holds numerous instructor certifications through the U.S. Army, U.S. Department of State and The National Rifle Association. Ron began instructing at BSR in 2014.
John is a U.S. Navy Submarine veteran of six years. He retired from the Fairfax County Police Department with 28 years of service. John spent 20 years as a Patrol Officer, 25 years as a Field Training Instructor as well as 15 years as an Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor. He just retired in 2014 from improving the lives of drivers by being a Virginia Driver Education Instructor for 21 years. John has been a BSR Instructor since 1992.
Brad is a veteran of the US Air Force (National Guard) and of OEF/OIF. He is a former West Virginia Law Enforcement Officer with local city and county jurisdictions. He was a private contractor in Afghanistan training the ANP (Afghan National Police) in the areas of patrol, tactics, special operations (SWAT), firearms, logistics, and finance, rule of law and Human Rights, and anti-terrorism operations. Brad was assigned to a US Army Squad and performed foot patrols, cordon and search, and COIN missions in assisting in further training for the ANP. He operated as security in High Risk motorcade operations for visiting DOS personnel, and on daily missions to area Police Stations as both a driver and security operator. He instructed for the US DoS ATA (Anti-Terrorism Assistance) Crisis Response Team. This includes close quarters combat, firearms, hostage rescue, vehicle assaults, small room entry, structure entry, tactical communications, operations, planning, and breaching. Brad has been a BSR instructor since 2012.
Don joined BSR in 2001 and is a senior class-room and in-car Instructor, with significant experience teaching virtually every driving course in the BSR catalog. Don is also a US State Department/USAID contractor/consultant and a sports car and motorcycle racer. He has more than 25 years of experience operating in difficult overseas environments on both short and long term assignments in the developing countries of Southeast Asia, North Africa, the Middle-East, and in the Former Soviet Union. Son of an auto industry executive, he grew up with motorsports and first began racing motorcycles in High School. More recently, he races Porsches in NASA’s Mid-Atlantic region where he was the 44 SuperCup champion in 2008, and currently holds track records at New Jersey Motorsports Park and Summit Point.
Alan is a successful financial planner who has been participating in various forms of motorsports since he was a teenager. Lately he has been involved in auto racing with SCCA and NASA. He has won numerous races at courses throughout the country. Alan was named the Mid-Atlantic Champion in 2010 and Driver of the Year in 2007. In 2011, Alan won the coveted SCCA National Race here at Summit Point Motorsports Park. Alan is currently instructing and coaching race-car drivers with various agencies. Alan began instructing with BSR in 2010.
Dan is a former US Naval Aviator. He currently is a Flight Officer with a commercial airline company flying 757 & 767 aircraft. Dan began instructing at BSR in 2006.
Steve has been in the movie production business for over 20 years and has been a professional stunt coordinator and stunt driver on multiple national and international films, TV shows and commercials. Over the years outside of the film industry he has worked, in an instructor capacity, for many agencies. Some of these include Fairfax Fire & Rescue, FBI, Criminal Justice Academies and American University in Washington DC. He currently is working for a World Wide Protection Security Company and has over 4 years as an instructor, course designer and Security Agent. Steve has been instructing at BSR since 2008.
Greg Haas has been active at Summit Point Motorsports Park since 1982. His driving experience includes autocross, enduro karts, spec racing, formula cars and improved touring. Greg has been instructing at BSR since 2010.
Pete has extensive in-car and class room instructing experience and is an HPDE Instructor with NASA, SCCA, GWS Mercedes, Audi ACNA, BMW Del Val, Ferrari Club of America, MVP Track Time LLC, Ford SVTOA, Mazda Drivers LLC, S2ki, Track Daze, Corvette Club NVCC, Red Line Time Attack, and the Capital Area Cobra Club. He got involved in auto-X in 2003 and later went on to win many auto X FTDs/trophies including overall season championships in 2007 and 2012 while driving an A-Stock S2000. Pete has a competition license with NASA and has competed on many east coast race tracks from Florida to New Hampshire. Pete has been instructing for the Summit Point FATT program since 2008 and became a BSR instructor in 2011.
Jim began auto crossing in 1994 and then moved on to high speed, track days. Time Trials, and racing. He joined BSR as a FATT instructor in 2005 and also instructs with several other organizations including the National Corvette Museum. Jim has instructed at many of the tracks in the Northeast, and is also a club racer with competition licenses in SCCA and NASA. For the last three years he has competed in the “Brock Yates”, One Lap of America event which is a combination Time Trial and Endurance competition that visits tracks all over the country logging over 5,000 miles in just over a week each year. Jim began instructing at BSR in 2011.
Mike is currently a Virginia Law Enforcement Officer. He has been a DCJS (Department of Criminal Justice Services) certified EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Course) instructor for more than 10 years. Mike began instructing at BSR in 2012.
Robert is retired from the U.S. Army with over 20 years of service. He has extensive background in physical and personal security in high risk environments. Areas of operations include Africa and Asia. Robert began instructing at BSR in 2010.
Will is a retired Virginia Law Enforcement Officer having served 26 years with his department. During those years he served as a member of the Tact team, Dive team and Tracking team. Since 2001, he has been a DCJS (Department of Criminal Justice Services) instructor for the agency and academy teaching Defensive Tactics and ASP baton. Will has been with BSR since 2014.
Mike retired from the United States Secret Service after 28 years of service. During that time he served under 5 President’s and worked closely with numerous local, state and federal agencies. Mike held a variety of assignments to include the Motorcade Support Unit and Explosives Detection Team. He also served 4 years in the United States Navy as a Damage Control Technician and two years as a Nuclear Security Specialist at Exelon’s Limerick Generating Station. Mike began instructing with BSR in 2014.
Sergio is a NASCAR K&N Pro series racer. In the past 15 years of racing he has numerous winnings including 4th place in the World Karting Championship, Arze, Italy in 2004, winner of NASCAR competition reality TV show “Changing Lanes in 2010, tied for most wins in K&N Championship in 2011 and several NASCAR series awards. Sergio has been an instructor with BSR since 2013.
Don is currently a Virginia Law Enforcement Officer with over 25 years of experience. He has been a DCJS (Department of Criminal Justice Services) certified EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Course) instructor for more than 5 years. He is currently assigned to a regional narcotics task force where he has obtained extensive experience in surveillance and counter surveillance. Don began instructing at BSR in 2012.
Buck has an extensive and wide-ranging of operational and instructional experience in High Threat Evasive Driving, Motorcade Operations, Firearms and Personal Protection. He is a U.S. Navy Master at Arms (MA) veteran where he served as an Anti-terrorism/Force Protection, Surveillance Detection, Riverine Operations, Special Skills and Tactics, Convoy/Motorcade Operations and Firearms trainer to foreign nationals as an Expeditionary Warfare Subject Matter Expert. Buck went on to work as a PMC with several organizations. He has served in several Close Protection Teams and was hand selected to join the Joint Service (Army/Navy) detail in Afghanistan for General Stanley McChrystal (COMISAF), in a multitude of positions to include Agent in Charge, Shift Leader, Advance Team Leader and Lead Driver. In addition, he assisted with special security missions for high level U.S. Government Officials as well as Government Officials of Afghanistan to include the President of Afghanistan. Buck began instructing at BSR in 2014.
Michelle Gore is a licensed driving instructor in the state of Virginia. She currently teaches Health and Physical Education and is a “Behind the Wheel” Instructor for high school students. Michelle also works with Ford as a driving instructor for their Ford Driving Skills For Life Program. Michelle has been an instructor with BSR since 2014.
Bill is a retired law enforcement office after 25 years of service for the Federal Bureau of Prisons with more than 20 years of experience in the law enforcement and civilian sectors. He received instructor certifications from FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) specializing in Witness Security Driving, firearms instructor, Special Operations Group (SOG), Lead Self Defense Instructor as well as Fugitive Task Force Operations with the U.S. Marshals Service. Bill began instructing at BSR in 2015.
